A nominal cable diameter does not define the complete product. Manufacturers should provide the construction, material, coating, dimensions, fittings and operating conditions needed for the finished assembly.
State the required construction, such as 1×7, 7×7, 1×19 or 7×19, or provide a drawing or approved sample. Specify the steel grade, surface condition and any material documentation required.
Confirm whether the stated diameter refers to bare cable or the finished coated diameter. Include diameter tolerance, coating material and colour, finished length and length tolerance.
Provide drawings for loops, stops, eyelets, hooks, grippers, terminals or other fittings at both ends. Include interface dimensions and any orientation requirements.
Describe the intended application, bend conditions, movement, environment, static or dynamic loads, safety factor and test method. Working load cannot be selected from cable diameter alone.
List dimensional checks, material documents, proof or breaking tests, traceability and third-party inspection required for the quoted product.
State whether supply is required on reels, as cut lengths or as finished assemblies. Include sample quantity, production quantity, labels, packaging, destination and target timing.
